The consultation
What the consultation covers
A conversation and a look under the lamp: 30 minutes on its own, or the first half of the first visit. It comes before your first facial and before any log.
Your routine
What you use, in what order and how often. Bring it, or photograph it.
Your skin
Where you break out, when, and what your skin does after you wash it.
What you've tried
What helped, what didn't and what you would rather not repeat.
What you'd like
A calmer routine, fewer steps, a plan you can keep. We say what a facial can and can't do.
The note
We write down what we noticed and give you a copy, so the next visit starts there.
Your questions
Ask anything about the visits, the log or the room before you decide.
When to see a dermatologist
When a facial isn't the answer
We would rather say so than keep booking you. We will suggest a dermatologist, or your doctor, when:
Breakouts that are deep, painful or lumpy
These sit deeper than a facial reaches, so a facial is not the next step.
A mark that lingers, or a scar forming
We note it and suggest someone who can look at it properly.
A spot or mole that is changing
Anything that grows, bleeds or changes color goes to a doctor, not to a facial.
Skin that is hot, swollen or oozing
We ask you to see a doctor before you book again.
Breakouts that started suddenly
Especially alongside other changes in how you feel, or after a new medicine.
Notes that look the same four visits in
If the log shows nothing that changed, we say so and suggest the next person to ask.
